A Day at Work

At work we started working with a new Company or Institution really. We help paper click and google key words for the Southwest Scoliosis Institute. They wanted people to be able to reach them with key words and make it simple to be able to find for potential patients. As an intern at The Point Group have to listen to the phone calls and score them on a 5 star system. Some of the calls are just terrible to listen too as people have little patience when they are in pain. Some of the people that call are just rude and mean to the receptionist. On the rating system it has to be very precise so that the Institute isn’t wasting money on paper click. It isn’t very exciting, but someone has to do it. Intern life.

Rangers Game

I was bored out of my mind with all these days off from training so I decided to go to a Rangers game. My tickets were really cheap at $12 and in the New Globe Life Field every seat is a good seat. I didn’t sit where I was supposed to though as the game wasn’t that packed. I doubt they would be with the Rangers record this year. Parking was cheap as well but they walk almost killed me in this Texas heat. Once I hit the doors after scanning my tickets the A/C saved the day. The whole stadium is air-conditioned so that was wonderful. They game was fun and they scored 3 runs in the 9th to rally and beat the Mariners. Everything about the game was perfect. Next time I am bring my whole family. They drive from my apartment was only 30 mins even with the traffic. That was my second baseball Rangers game I ever went you and will be back.

Killer workout

On Saturdays I usually do an extra lift and recover on Sunday by swimming. Today I did a little bit of both which was fun. I ran 2 miles after I ran 6 yesterday. Listen, at 245 lbs running is not very fun to me I am not too fond of it, nor do I consider myself a runner. I just rather do that, than to be dog-tired at practice. After I did that I went to Wendy’s ( not the best health food choice) because they had a bogo deal buy one get one for a dollar, hard to beat. Then I went out to Grapevine Lake to go tubing and swimming. I have never went tubing before and let me tell you, to hang on for 7 minutes take a lot of grip strength and balance. My shoulders were burning so bad when I flipped of I couldn’t swim back to the boat. Nothing to serious but tubing was fun. Also had to point out how good Wendy’s is.

6 miles run

I ran for 6 miles and is the further I ran all year long. Don’t think I’m some jog around the neighborhood with a shirt off and Fitbit guy. I ran it all on a treadmill as this Texas heat is about as brutal as running that far, so I didn’t want to mix the two. It is nothing to much to running as we pretty much all have been running since we were 2, thank god for the polio vaccine. The first 2 miles sucked so bad as my body was wondering what is going on. Those next 3 though were worse than the first two miles. The last mile was the easy as I knew I was almost do. Blogging is somewhat hard on the weekends because I do not do much. This 6 miles run couldn’t be detailed much but if I could describe it in one word it would be, Pain.

Internship Dinner

This may not be really interesting to many, but I had a dinner with all of the interns on the team and their bosses. With the Life After Ball program, I was able to get an internship at a marketing firm. It was a congratulatory dinner and a great fellowship atmosphere. I met Real Estate Top Dog Rogers Healy. I was able to talk to other CEOs and Business Presidents to build connections. The food was also really good as the dinner was at Fogo De Chão, so connections aside it was a really good night. My pants were tight as hell from all this lifting we do in the summer so I definitely got some remarks about how tight they were. All jokes. I picked up an internship opportunity while at the dinner from Aflac Insurance. I didn’t want to go at first but I am glad that I did.

Media Day

Not a really eventful day as we took real pictures. I am not really photogenic or do I care to take photos. I don’t even like smiling, but I do it for my grandma so she can brag on Facebook. At this point I think that’s all Facebook is. Just older people bragging or showing outdated memes. The pictures came out really good. Only think really eventful about the day is I didn’t get the number I wanted which is 7. It’s the number of perfection and I know we can’t be perfect, but it is a reminder to chase perfection. I may end up changing to number 23. We will see.

Wedding

One of my friends from high school got married to a girl he had been with his whole entire life. Now it’s not that interesting regarding to my life, but it was the first time I had ever been to a wedding. It was so much fun. It wasn’t a lot of older people there so I got to act like a complete ass. Granted my mom was there but I don’t remember too much from last night so I’m not going to harp too much on it. I had to go back to Longview for the wedding and it was my first time back home since March. I got to see a lot of my high school friends and coaches I have seen since high school for most of them. It was a magical night for my friend. The DJ was fire, the venue was amazing, and they had an open bar. That’s pretty much much the icing on the cake. Oh the cake was really good too.

515 LBS SQUAT!!!

This blog isn’t to brag or just to highlight a big accomplishment. I used to squat heavy all the time to train to get to this number or more but after my knee surgery in February I didn’t think I would be able to squat this much again for a while. I wasn’t able to squat over 400 for the whole summer and all of spring training. So I didn’t think I would be able to get this high. I went to my coach and asked him how high could I go and he told me 405 which is a lot but not a crazy amount. I was discouraged. I just said the hell with it and told him I was going to do more. So I loaded it up after multiple sets. Once I lift the bar to unrack it. I was like “ Oh F***”. My teammates were cheering me on and I thought in the back of my head, this is what I asked for. Ask I went down I started to gather, how the hell am I going to get back up. Once I started on my way up it was easier than I thought and I pressed through and got it up. I don’t know what chemical were released once I racked the weight, but I was over an extreme high and excited about my New PR.
